Ray and Kevan raise more than 7000 Pounds for BHF

Ray Robinson, a senior partner at Phipps & Co, and Kevan Baker, a long term friend and dentist from The Dental Centre, Tenterden, completed a challenging bike ride in aid of the British Heart Foundation, cycling a distance of 500kms from Saigon, Vietnam to Kompong Thom, Cambodia. Along with a group of 27 other keen cyclists they set out to complete approximately 100kms per day. The heat and humidity proved quite exhausting but the water stops were regular and well organised. The journey was mainly on level tarmac. The route wound through busy built up areas, along quieter ‘jungle roads’ in the countryside, past sacred temples and schools of Cambodian children waving and cheering. Part of the journey was along the vast, murky brown, Mekong River and water buffalo were a regular sight wallowing in the flooded plains. The pair were overwhelmed by donations received from many local businesses, friends and family who all contributed to their final total of more than £7,000.
