Phipps & Co - Tenth Annual Charity Golf Day
10th Charity Golf Day
Sam Whiting organised the tenth annual Charity Golf Day for Phipps & Co, held at Lydd Golf Club on 17 July 2009. Even in the middle of the recession 12 teams of golfing fanatics were enticed into an enjoyable, if blustery, day down on the links.
Incredibly the first three teams all tied on 86 points, but using the countback method, Rays Intimates team were declared the winners (Ray Robinson of Phipps & Co, Tony Horn from Nat West, together with Louise Simmons and Andrew Charlesworth from Intimates Lingerie). Lloyd Huggett from John Roberts & Son won a very close first placed individual trophy with a score of 39 points.
A grand total of £1000 was raised for St Michaels Hospice towards their ongoing palliative care for cancer sufferers. Neil Cunliffe of Phipps & Co said that considering the economic climate we are extremely pleased with the result and many thanks go to all those who supported by entering a team or donating a prize as well as the help offered by staff at Phipps & Co.
