Charity Golf Day 2008
PHIPPS 9th CHARITY GOLF DAY
Phipps & Co held their annual charity golf day at Lydd Golf Course on 25 July.
The morning started well with Sam and Lesley setting up the charts, computers, prizes and score cards. 19 teams began arriving at 11 to be greeted by Charlotte, Mary, Alana and Susie and served with a delicious bacon roll. There was much casual chat about handicaps and general life outside of golf! Many previous entrants came along to support as well as several new faces.
The day was a huge success with over £1800 being raised. Our chosen charity for this year is Rye ARRCC, a local charity based in Rye providing a rehabilitation programme for physically disabled and sensory impaired adults. Activities involving creative arts, tuition courses on computer training and internet applications, a range of beauty, reflexology and massage therapies all contribute to a varied range of subjects to develop and encourage new interests, which ultimately benefit the mind and body of those able to attend.
The team competition was very close with the Vantis team winning on 86 points and Monkfish Team 2 second with 85 points.
The individual competition was won by Chris Bryant of Pfizers, who, with a handicap of 24, scored a magnificent 38 stableford points.
Phil Hatch of UKCA and Rae Broughton from Heringtons Solicitors took the honours for male/female longest drive trophies. Terry McCoy from the HSBC team won the prize for ‘nearest to the pin’.
Please look through the photos to get a real feel for the fun we all had on the day!
If you would like to enter a team at our tenth charity golf day, due in the summer of next year, please contact Phipps & Co on 01797 223127 or email on info@phippsllp.co.uk
